My goal with this series of paintings is to portray the notion of loss of reality and perception. Within these paintings, I dive into the mental state of mind of someone who perceives reality differently. We all have a different outlook on life and these rooms are a figment of one鈥檚 imagination. They represent how one feels. An illusion of tranquility and confusion sometimes not conscious of reality, but conscious of their own built reality. I chose the view of a windowsill looking into an imaginary room to depict a fabricated reality that sometimes can be perceived as a reality. Even now in the climate, we are in we find ourselves looking out of the window in the safety of our homes. We find ourselves confined and imagining a different circumstance, a different outcome to what has been going.
I originally started this series to cope with the mental decline of my father. As I started to research what Dementia does to the human brain, I became interested in visually conveying what Dementia is. I wanted to personify Dementia and give it a visual representation.
