Memories of a Murder
As a graphic designer with an equal interest in illustration and photography, it鈥檚 my ultimate goal to utilize typography and digital art in a way that encompasses who I am, and doing so requires breaking out of creative boxes, while also paying a tribute to the things that inspire me, such as movies, video games, and the horror genre as a whole. Such as using horror aesthetics such as dramatic colors to evoke strong emotion. I鈥檝e always been keen on what catches my attention, especially book covers and movie posters that use strong clever design choices and often imagery that strikes most as bizarre. I want my work to be a reflection of everything I am as a person. And like how many different things have influenced my work, that cannot be properly shown through one way of creating.
Memories of a Murder is a condensed story of my upbringing and experiences with my family suddenly moving out of state, while I stayed in my hometown Jersey City to pursue my education. I wanted the story to be told using a collection of individual spreads that have their own unique designs and tone to match the stages of maturity. Taking inspiration from Jim Krause鈥檚 鈥淐reative Sparks鈥, I wanted to make something that appeals to a wide variety of people while also depicting an experience personal to me, and using a species that holds significance to me to tell it.
These designs were created using Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Clip Studio Paint
