What are the goals of OCS at NJCU?
The Office of Community Standards (OCS) at NJCU wants all students to experience a civil campus environment where they feel supported and valued. To that extent, OCS will ensure that students abide by NJCU鈥檚 student conduct policies and procedures, all of which can be found on this page. Students also need to know their rights and responsibilities as 鈥済ood citizens鈥 so that they can contribute to making NJCU a safe community. OCS will provide student learning opportunities that focus on campus conduct, active bystander intervention, Title IX protections, conflict resolution, and more.
What are the main responsibilities of OCS?
OCS has several chief functions, including (but not limited to) the following:
- Management of student conduct records
- Coordination of student conduct hearings, including incident investigation and hearing board formation
- Education and training of students, faculty, and staff on various conduct-related topics
With whom does OCS work to achieve its goals?
OCS operates within the Office of the Dean of Students. Among other things, OCS collaborates with the following individuals and/or departments/divisions:
- Division of Student Affairs
- Associate Dean of Students
- Title IX Coordinator
- Housing and Residence Life
- Public Safety
- Counseling/Health & Wellness
In addition, OCS may work with other individuals and/or departments on special projects related to maintaining and enhancing NJCU's overall community standards.
