Checklist for Admitted First-Year Students
1. Secure Your Spot
- To accept your offer of admission, pay your $50 tuition deposit online through

You will need your Gothic ID/Password to access your account. This information was emailed and mailed to you at the time you submitted your application. Your Gothic ID is located on the right hand corner of your acceptance letter.
Click on 'Forgot Password' if you need help with your password.
1a. Your Key to Staying Connected at NJCU
Once you have accepted your offer of Admission, we will send you an updated password for along with your NJCU email address. This updated password will provide full student access to the portal. You will be able to view your Financial Aid, Student Billing, Class schedule and other important University Information.

1b. NJCU email is the official means of communication with all students.
Please visit njcu.edu/email and follow the steps outlined to access your new NJCU email (email and password sent to you once you have accepted your offer of admissions.
2. Financial Aid
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.gov to maximize the grant options available to you. All Scholarship recipients are required to file the FAFSA.

3. Scholarship Recipients
Accept your offer of Admission and Scholarship (if applicable) online at by:
- June 1, 2024 for the Fall 2024 term (September Start)
Scholarship recipients must enroll Full-Time into an undergraduate program of study (minimum of 12 credit hours) and maintain a 3.0 GPA for the life of the scholarship.
All scholarship recipients must complete and file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (), and receive a valid Student Aid Report in order to receive the scholarship. Scholarship amounts will be adjusted to direct billed costs of tuition and fees. NJCU Scholarships may not be used to cover cost of Residence Halls. Adjustments will be based upon the result of the FAFSA as well as other scholarships and grants awarded.
Students who have already earned a Bachelor鈥檚 Degree are ineligible for Scholarship Awards.
4. Register for Classes

5. Request Your Final Transcripts
Submit final high school transcript (with graduation date) to the Office of University Admissions. If you have completed college coursework at another university, you must also request to have that official transcript submitted to NJCU for transfer credit consideration.

6. Living & Learning
Jersey City is one of the world鈥檚 most culturally rich and vibrant cities, and NJCU is located right in the heart of it. 7. Immunization Records/Vaccinations
Request your immunization records from your school or doctor as soon as possible to allow time for processing. New Jersey State Law requires all students born after 1956 to submit proof of immunity to Measles (2 doses), Mumps, and Rubella or file a valid exception. For more information on requirements and how to submit your records, visit The Health and Wellness Center page or call the Health and Wellness Center at 201-200-3456.
8. Paying for College
Review your tuition and payment plan options via your account. For student billing questions, please visit the Office of Student Accounts or call 201-471-6099.
