a medias (half- baked) recounts the journey to Aurora’s other home, San Miguel, El Salvador. Each vessel represents a part of the four-hour journey down south with her Tió Paco. This small, but mighty, country has seen drastic changes post-civil war including the redevelopment of its infrastructure but there is one thing that doesn’t change, the plush ecological landscape of El Salvador. In a medias Aurora uses iconography, colors and textures of that recreate that trip home, creating a map of one of her most treasured memories.
