Seasonal Switchover to Heating
Dear NJCU Community,
The university has now reached the shoulder season, where we may experience temperature extremes, both warm and cold. The NJCU (FCM) would like to thank the university community for its patience with temperatures in our buildings during this seasonal crossover.
As you might know, due to the complexity of our commercial HVAC systems, they operate very differently than the residential systems used in our homes, where you can easily switch from heating to cooling, or vice versa, with the flip of a switch. Commercial systems must be mechanically and electronically converted for seasonal operation and these complex systems cannot react as quickly as home units. Additionally, during the changeover season, maintenance and repairs may have to be completed to sustain these systems.
Please be advised that with the weather cooling, we will be commencing the seasonal switch over from cooling to heating in all campus buildings during the month of October.
Appropriate clothing is suggested for those who may be less tolerant to possible cooler temperatures in their work spaces.
If you are opening windows, FCM would like to remind all faculty and staff to close the windows in your classrooms and offices prior to leaving campus each day to prevent any possible damage from exposure when these spaces are not occupied.
We appreciate your patience as we work to complete this switchover during the change of seasons.
