JERSEY CITY, N.J. | ¿ìèÆƽâ°æ (NJCU) Interim President Andrés Acebo, who in May 2024 was named this year’s No. 1 higher education influencer in the state, has been recognized even further. ROI-NJ has announced that Acebo has been named to the 2024 ROI Power and Influencer Awards Champions of the C-Suite Top 30 list.
The awards. bestowed by ROI-NJ, a statewide leading business publication, are in conjunction with the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce in recognition of the most influential business leaders representing 30 New Jersey organizations.
In total, ROI-NJ will recognize the top 140 selected statewide leaders, highlighted by the Top 30 honorees, at the second annual Champions of the C-Suite Gala, which will be held on Wednesday, December 4 at 5 p.m. at The Hanover Manor in East Hanover, N.J.
Acebo is the first leader in NJCU history ever selected as a Champion of the C-Suite by ROI-NJ and one of only three educational leaders statewide selected to the Top 30.
Through the Champions of the C-Suite, ROI-NJ is once again shining a spotlight on the top business leaders driving innovation across diverse sectors, from development and engineering to healthcare, finance, education, and even sports. These distinguished leaders were chosen for their outstanding achievements, strategic vision, and significant impact on their industries and communities, including their contributions to diversity and inclusion efforts and their track record of financial success.
The recognition comes on the heels of Acebo being ranked the in the state of New Jersey in the announced on May 15 by ROI-NJ.
Just last month, Acebo was recognized by NJBiz, New Jersey’s leading business journal, as No. 4 overall on the 2024 NJBiz Education Power 50 List. Acebo earned the highest ranking of any college or university president in New Jersey in the 2024 Power 50.
The award is the latest in a slew of recognitions since he became president just 21 months ago, culminating in the No. 1 higher education influencer distinction from ROI-NJ and the No. 4 Power List selection by NJBiz. Since January 2023, Acebo has been recognized seven times on ROI-NJ’s influencer lists, including the Champions of the C-Suite. He previously was named to the 2023 Super 60 Power List as one of the 60 most influential people and one of the top 25 chief executives and leaders across public and private higher education.
