JERSEY CITY, N.J. | Dr. Donna Farina, a professor in the Department of Multicultural Leadership, has penned an op-ed in and The Jersey Journal entitled 鈥溾橉潡○潡拆潣勨 饾椆饾棶饾椈饾棿饾槀饾棶饾棿饾棽饾榾 饾椏饾椂饾棿饾椀饾榿饾椆饾槅 饾棸饾棽饾椆饾棽饾棷饾椏饾棶饾榿饾棽饾棻, 饾椏饾棽饾榾饾椊饾棽饾棸饾榿饾棽饾棻 饾棶饾榿 饾棥饾棟饾棖饾棬.鈥&苍产蝉辫;This brilliant essay discusses her excitement as a linguist when meeting someone who speaks a language that is new to her, and how that can happen every day at a campus such as NJCU where more than 100 languages are represented. Dr. Farina also tells the story of several students she has taught who speak unique languages and describes their success stories.
While NJCU is revered in the community for being a transformative force, Dr. Farina poses the following question: "The question is, who exactly is being transformed?
