JERSEY CITY, N.J. | ��è�ƽ�� has announced that 1,280 undergraduate students have earned distinction for their academic success by being named to the Fall 2023 semester Dean’s List. Among the honorees, 251 students achieved a perfect 4.00 grade point average (GPA) during the term.

For a student to be eligible for Dean’s List accolades, they must earn a semester GPA average of 3.50 or better while enrolled in 12 or more countable credits.

Fall 2023 Dean’s list recipients by class include 335 freshmen, 425 sophomores, 241 juniors and 279 seniors.

Jodi Bailey Accavallo, Ph.D., Vice President for Student Development and Community Engagement, praised the Fall 2023 honorees, saying: “We are extremely proud of the NJCU students who have earned a place on the Dean's List. Your hard work and dedication shine brightly, reflecting the excellence we strive for at NJCU. Congratulations on this well-deserved accomplishment."

Achieving the Dean's List is a testament to your hard work, perseverance, and commitment to excellence. Your consistent dedication to your studies and the pursuit of knowledge is truly commendable. Your outstanding performance reflects your intellect, diligence, and passion for learning. I wish you continued success in all your academic pursuits and beyond!”

The Fall 2023 Dean’s list continues the recent history of academic success by a large percentage of NJCU’s undergraduate student population.

By comparison, 1,318 students earned Dean’s List recognition in the Spring 2023 semester — 346 freshmen, 404 sophomores, 301 juniors and 268 seniors, and 291 students scored a 4.00. Previously,  1,345 students earned Dean’s List recognition during the Fall 2022 term — 397 freshmen, 411 sophomores, 300 juniors and 237 seniors — and 275 students achieved a perfect 4.00 GPA. In the Spring 2022 term, 1,337 students earned Dean’s List recognition, which included 370 freshmen, 483 sophomores, 243 juniors and 242 seniors. Among the honorees, 289 students achieved a perfect 4.00 GPA during the term.

Students who conclude their undergraduate studies with a 3.65 GPA or better will graduate with honors and be recognized at Commencement as cum laude, magna cum laude or summa cum laude, if their GPA equates to the following:

• 3.65-3.79 cum laude
• 3.80-3.89 magna cum laude
• 3.90-4.00 summa cum laude
