NJCU Celebrates Nursing Graduates in Pinning Ceremony

2023 Spring Nursing Pinning Ceremony

JERSEY CITY, N.J. | On May 15, the (NJCU) ​​Nursing program held its Accelerated Nursing Program Pinning Ceremony to celebrate the NJCU at Fort Monmouth Class of 2023.

The NJCU Nursing program holds pinning ceremonies twice annually —  one for students on its main campus and one for those enrolled in its new location, NJCU at Fort Monmouth. This was the second Fort Monmouth ceremony.

Dr. Joyce Wright led the graduates in the Nightingale Pledge.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Dr. Joyce Wright, Associate Professor, RN to BSN Program Coordinator, and chair of the NJCU Nursing Department, led the graduates in the Nightingale Pledge.

The tradition of the nursing pin and pinning ceremony is steeped in tradition, and has a long history dating back to 1880 when the first pin was presented to the graduating class of the Bellevue Hospital of Nursing in New York City.

The following 22 students are receiving a B.S. in Nursing at Commencement on May 30 and were part of the Pinning Ceremony:
