NJCU鈥檚 Guarini Institute to Host John C. Williams, President & CEO of Federal Reserve Bank of New York, on February 18

JERSEY CITY, N.J. | (NJCU) and its Guarini Institute for International Education and Economic Mobility will host a virtual event on Friday, February 18 featuring John C. Williams, President & CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and Vice Chair of the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) on the state of the U.S. economy, monetary policy, and the economic outlook for the northern New Jersey region.

The webinar will begin at 11 a.m. Eastern. The event is open to the public and the media and will include a moderated Q&A session.

President Williams will deliver a speech and participate in a moderated discussion with Dr. Bernard McSherry, Founding Dean of the NJCU School of Business and take questions from NJCU faculty and students. NJCU President Dr. Sue Henderson  will offer welcoming remarks.

The event is the culmination of a two-day series of engagements Williams will hold with leaders in government, business, education, and community development to the northern New Jersey region on February 17 and 18. Highlighting the opening day of the engagements on February 17, Williams will meet virtually with New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy to discuss current economic conditions and the progress of the pandemic recovery across the state.

President Williams has demonstrated throughout his career his commitment to making the economy stronger for all and continues to address key challenges in economic mobility. The Federal Reserve鈥檚 unique role convening education and workforce development leaders has opened the door to innovations like the ones the Guarini Institute at NJCU is launching to engage students with local and global businesses.鈥

President Williams will speak about the economic outlook and monetary policy, and his remarks will be followed by a moderated discussion on economic trends and the outlook for the northern New Jersey economy, in light of his conversations with stakeholders in the region.
