NJCU to Host Summer 2021 Multi-Style String Educators Symposium

JERSEY CITY, N.J. | (狈闯颁鲍)鈥檚 is partnering with the Music, Dance and Theatre (MDT) Department and its acclaimed faculty to host a Summer 2021 Multi-Style String Educators Symposium.

The four-day event will be held Monday, July 26 through Thursday, July 29, each day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

鈥淧lay ahead of the curve!鈥 is the slogan of Martha Mooke, renown electro-acoustic violist, Yamaha Leading string artist and founder of NJCU鈥檚 groundbreaking Multi-Style Strings Program.

Martha Mooke will be joined by some of the world鈥檚 leading Multi-Style String virtuosos and educators including Regina Carter, Jeremy Kittel and Dave Eggar. The esteemed faculty will provide exclusive, in-person instruction to the participants.

鈥淧laying and teaching Multi-Styles is the future of Music Education鈥 says Mooke, 鈥渁nd these educators will have a unique and exciting opportunity to garner hands-on experience exploring the field鈥檚 growing repertoire 鈥 which includes jazz, Latin, R&B, blues, African, Celtic, bluegrass, folk, and rock 鈥 and non-traditional techniques, multiple approaches to improvisation and incorporating technology.鈥

The event will be held in person following strict COVID-19 protocols, but those who wish to attend virtually will have that option. Certificates of completion with 20 professional development hours will be awarded and string educators unable to attend the in-person event will have the opportunity to audit the course virtually.
