JERSEY CITY, N.J. | (狈闯颁鲍)鈥檚 Center for Workforce and Community Development, in collaboration with the , has announced it will launch the OSHA with COVID-19 Addendum and Financial Literacy for Work Training program.
The COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically shifted the landscape of employment opportunities and small business development in the United States. This effect has disproportionately impacted entry-level and service-related positions that cannot be satisfied remotely. The (NJBIA) draws a direct correlation between COVID-19 safety training and the development of a 鈥渞eturn to work鈥 model.
Most employers are unable to invest in entry-level training, which creates a stalemate between economic growth and job opportunities in positions traditionally held by youth in the 18-23 age range who possess only a high school diploma or GED.
In an effort to address the problem, NJCU has developed an online three-part, 25-hour vocational training program to include OSHA10 General Industry with the COVID-19 Addendum & Financial Literacy for Work.
Throughout the month of March, this course will run for five (5) consecutive Wednesdays 鈥 March 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31.
Those registrants who successfully complete the program are expected to be bankable and will receive an OSHA Wallet Card, Certificates of Completion from NJCU鈥檚 Center for Workforce and Community Development and the New Jersey Center for Economic Education, a stipend of $250 from the NJCU Foundation and job placement services.
鈥淭his launch represents another example of NJCU鈥檚 continued commitment to provide innovative programming to our local community,鈥 said Dr. Michael Edmondson, the Dean of Professional Education and Lifelong Learning at NJCU.
