Play Therapy

NJCU's Associate Professor Yumiko Ogawa, Ph.D., LPC, ACS, and Registered Play Therapist recently launched a project with KIND (Kids in Need of Defense).  KIND is a law firm that provides legal services for unaccompanied immigrant children.  Ogawa, along with former and current students, is providing play therapy at the law firm in NJ to children who are in a process of applying for asylum.

She notes, "We started this as a pilot project from this semester and it has really taken off!" The headquarters of KIND in Washington, DC has been watching the project and are pleased with the progress they are seeing.  KIND will raise funds for the project, which will be matched by Johnson & Johnson so that more children can receive play therapy.
