The Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders has presented Kaishaun Thomson of Orange, a freshman at ¿ìèÆƽâ°æ (NJCU), an NJAC (New Jersey Association of Counties) Foundation Scholarship Award funded by a grant from the PSEG Foundation.

The grant from the PSE&G Foundation to NJAC Foundation provides scholarships to encourage county vocational technical school graduates to pursue their interest in studying environmental science, green design, green technology, alternative energy, or related subjects at a New Jersey public institution of higher learning upon graduation from high school.

The scholarship was awarded to Mr. Thomson on October 25, 2017 at a ceremony held at the Essex County Administration Building in Newark. His academic interests are physics and electrical engineering. He plans to combine his interest in sustainability and electrical engineering to improve efficiency and decrease dependence on nonrenewable resources.

Mr. Thomson was nominated for the scholarship by Essex County Bloomfield Tech, the high school from which he graduated in June. He pursued interests in Green Energy throughout his high school studies and his academic program included Honors and AP subjects. He was a member of the Technology Student Association as well as the Anime Club and the Music Club.
