The A. Harry Moore School is the winning High School in the Fuel My School 2017 contest sponsored by PIX11.
PIX11 announced the winning school LIVE from the A. Harry Moore School on the PIX11 Morning News. PIX11 meteorologist Byron Miranda presented Principal Steve Goldberg with a $10,000 check to be used on school supplies or technology – items the School cannot afford but feels would make a difference in the lives of their students.
The television station is sponsoring the initiative for a second year to help public school students achieve their academic goals through a donation of upgraded classroom and technology supplies.
In October, elementary, middle, and high school students, teachers and parents from public schools throughout New Jersey, the five boroughs of New York City, Westchester County, and Long Island were invited to submit an essay explaining how their school makes a difference. More than 500 essays were submitted.
A TV crew from PIX11 visited the A. Harry Moore School on Monday, November 6 to document all the wonderful and innovative activities that occur at the school.
The piece aired November 10 through 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 14 on PIX11 and all viewers were encouraged to vote for the best school.
