(NJCUGothicKnights.com) | The ¿ìèÆƽâ°æ athletics department will offer free admission to its home New Jersey Athletic Conference doubleheaders on November 29 and December 6 with a qualifying food donation as part of the league's 2017 Cans Across the Conference food drive initiative.
All fans, regardless of school affiliation, who donate three (3) canned or nonperishable food items at the ticket window will be admitted free to either of NJCU's conference doubleheaders during the donation period. This includes the Wednesday, November 29 games vs. William Paterson and the Wednesday, December 6 contests against Kean. Both tipoffs are scheduled for 6 p.m. for the women and 8 p.m. for the men at the John J. Moore Athletics and Fitness Center ('Coach Charlie Brown Court').
All 10 schools in the NJAC are participating in the ninth-annual "Cans Across the Conference" program, and NJCU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), under the direction of head men's basketball coach , oversees NJCU's effort to encourage the University community to donate. All items are used to stock local food pantries, food banks and benefit other statewide charitable organizations.
Fans who wish to donate during non-game days are also welcome to contribute. Donation containers can be found in the lobby of the JMAC during the program's duration, which runs November 15 through December 15.
The NJAC school with the most donations during the month-long friendly competition will be presented a plaque during a basketball game for their efforts. Last year, NJCU donated a record 553 canned goods during the eighth year of the program's existence. All donated items benefitted the Let's Celebrate Food Bank in Jersey City.
