ONLY AMERICAN TEAM PREPARES TO PRESENT ON CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Five students from 快猫破解版鈥檚 School of Business will travel to Mumbai, India in December to present at the XXIII International Economics Convention. The students, all NJCU seniors from New Jersey, will be accompanied by their professors, Drs. Wanda Rutledge and John Donnellan.
The XXIII International Economics Convention will be hosted by HR College of Commerce and Economics, December 10 鈥 12, 2015. Among the competitors are colleges from India, the UK, and Hong Kong.
Convention organizers challenged students from around the globe to research the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts of an assigned country, prepare a 35-page paper about those efforts, and present outcomes to Convention attendees. NJCU鈥檚 team -- Jackie Cella, Janette Conwell, Erika Isler, Maurice Outlaw, and Kerolos Rophail -- were challenged to research the CSR programs and results of Japanese companies and of companies operating in Japan.
鈥淐SR extends beyond a firm鈥檚 stated organizational goals,鈥 Dr. Rutledge said. 鈥淎s the United Nations Industrial Development Organization notes, CSR is the way the organization addresses economic, environmental, and social issues while still fulfilling its obligations to stakeholders.鈥
鈥淏ecause CSR takes on the cultural uniqueness of a country, our team is interpreting the concept of CSR in Japan to examine its differences from that of other nations and from multi-national corporations headquartered in Japan,鈥 Ms. Isler, NJCU team leader, said.
She added, 鈥淲e鈥檙e exploring how culture, tradition, philosophies, law, and major events influence CSR in Japan to determine if an institutional model exists, investigate the role of government in CSR, and identify outcomes of CSR from financial and reputational perspectives.鈥
鈥淲e are very proud of these students, who are already representing the NJCU School of Business in a professional manner as they work together as a team to develop a greater understanding of this essential business topic,鈥 Dr. Rutledge said.
All NJCU鈥檚 team members reside in New Jersey. Ms. Cella is a Marketing/Management co-major from Neptune; Ms. Conwell is a Marketing/Management co-major from North Middletown; Ms. Isler is a Finance major/National Security Studies minor from Jersey City; Mr. Outlaw is a Business Administration major from Jersey City; and Mr. Rophail is a Management major from Bayonne.
