Dear Members of the NJCU Community,
It is with tremendous sadness that we write to inform you that long-time professional staff member Charles Ellington, a beloved leader of NJCU's Housekeeping Team within the Facilities & Construction Management Department, unexpectedly passed away last week. He was 56 years old.
Charles joined the NJCU community on July 18, 2011 and dedicated nearly 13 years of service to the university. He was soon promoted to the position of Day Shift Supervisor for Custodial Services. Charles was well respected for his strong work ethic, dependability, and unwavering commitment to creating a clean and welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff.
Charles endeared himself to members of the NJCU family with his warm smile, strong laugh, positive outlook, and constant willingness to lend a helping. His absence will be deeply felt by his colleagues, and everyone touched by his presence.
He is survived by his two children and other relatives. Per the wishes of his family, services were held privately.
During this difficult time, the NJCU community extends its heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues. Counseling services are available to co-workers and friends who are affected by his passing.
