Join Us For a Town Hall with Acting President Jason Kroll on August 2

Dear Members of the NJCU Community,

It was great to see so many of you this morning at the new student orientation.  Hearing about the aspirations of those in this year’s incoming class is beautiful and inspiring. It is so powerful to have faculty, staff, and current students interacting with these new students and their families. Thank you!

As promised, we will continue to take actions that promote full transparency across the campus community. I am currently visiting with each division and department across campus — including student groups â€” so we can have open dialogue on some difficult topics but also so we can discuss reasons for optimism and confidence in building a viable path forward. While we are not yet at a point where we can get into granular specificity on this plan, we will be able to do so soon.

To further increase the flow of information, we are going to begin holding monthly town hall meetings beginning on Tuesday, August 2 at 2 p.m. Initially, these sessions will be focused on providing financial updates, while also serving as a platform for civil and good faith dialogue on timely subjects. I believe it is particularly important to begin these monthly meetings now, so lines of communication are open to the faculty and students who are off campus until the fall semester begins. The town halls will be open to all faculty, staff, and students.

A separate email will be sent with details about registration, in-person and virtual attendance information, and instructions for submitting questions.

Going forward in the fall semester, these recurring town halls will be targeted for the second Wednesday of each month — September 14, October 12, November 9, and December 14 — subject to change should another university event necessitate a scheduling modification.

As we near the start of the fall semester, I will provide information on how I will make myself formally and informally available for small group discussions throughout the course of the year, which will include focus group sessions designed to inform decisions about enhancing the student experience. Ensuring our community is seen and heard is of utmost importance.

Sincerely,

Jason Kroll
Acting President
