Lauren Lopena Judd received the 鈥淐ommunity Scholar鈥 award from the Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey (HCDNNJ). She is the first NJCU student to receive such an award. The award is competitive, and just 15 individuals were selected from a broad pool of candidates. Applicants hailed from colleges and universities from New England to Miami, FL. The Community Scholars were tasked to work with their respective sponsors, attend legislation sessions, a housing summit, a rescue mission in Trenton, and to participate at the 2018 Congressional Reception at Dirksen Senate Office, Washington, DC, where they met Senator Bob Menendez, Senator Corey Booker, and other NJ District Representatives.
Lopena Judd and others received their certificate of achievement awards during a luncheon celebration at Forsgate Country Club, Monroe Township, NJ in August.
Lopena Judd graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Public Health, Summa Cum Laude in May 2017. She is currently an MBA candidate at the NJCU School of Business, with a specialization in Organizational Management & Leadership.
